In this post, you'll learn about the five areas and the interconnectivity between them.

I'll provide a short answer and where to look more in depth.

This post is long at 3,822 words. It may take you half an hour to read it - but that's fine as it's really here in public to aid my thinking about the topic.

I will cut it up into bite sized chunks and repost where I can. Let's be fair - if anyone looks at an area with a few million people in it - you would expect it to be book length.

To make a start..

All areas whether Essex, Police, Live, Digital or Community are created equal.

In this model, we adopt the network approach. Usually, with the industrial model, organisations create a hub as the centre with spokes radiating outwards.

As a teacher in a school, this is what I experienced, a few line managers then a Head Teacher and a board of governors.

On every compose a tweet area, Twitter asks you one question: What's Happening? 

From the 100 or so twitter accounts, I've created a data set using Topsy looking at replies to (or name mentions) and then how many tweets made by each account user (retweets are ignored by Topsy, kinda fair enough as a RT is hardly a typed reply).

My theory being, are there maybe a dozen accounts that are ones to watch - on a few officers that are actively engaging with the public they serve. I'm delighted to report there are..

In my view there are 103 officer style accounts and then the main @essexpoliceuk which is not part of this study (as a not a person).

Essex Police Twitter Accounts Mapped

This interactive map has been produced from the public twitter list at Essex Police UK - Officers who tweet (time of writing 102 members, I've added the main force account too).

All pushpin locations are approximate based on what we can see in each twitter bio. The purpose of the map is to give a rough idea where the officers are located.

This is a theory post. It will show how making a public google photo album will make thirty eight images and two videos show up in a Google Search.

Of course they are not the same image URLs on twitter - they are a copy stored on Google.
